I got a few questions recently from job seekers who haven’t got feedback from a prospective employer yet.
Perhaps you’ve been told that you’d get feedback by mid next week or whatever the date might have been, but the deadline is gone, and you’re still waiting.
However, don’t always assume no news is bad news for your job search.
Speaking as someone who’s worked in internal recruitment for many years, the reason you haven’t heard back could have nothing to do with you, or everything to do with you.
Find out in this short video why you might not have got feedback yet and what to do about it:

I was a bit worried about an interview I did last year because I hadn’t heard back when they said I would. So, I waited a day or two and called the HR person for feedback on the interview. She said that she was glad that I called because there was a meeting about to start and my name and interview were on the agenda. She promised that either she or her boss would contact me soon. Three days later I received the phone with a job offer.
I think asking for feedback, instead of demanding whether I got the job or not, put me in a more positive light.
Hi Mary, great example – nobody should ever make any demands in a job interview, but asking for feedback is always good. And it also shows interest. Thanks for commenting!
